WTGN HISTORY

WITNESSING THE GOOD NEWS SINCE 1966

1966  The Beginning of WTGN

WTGN 97.7 FM Lima began broadcasting on September 27, 1966—at a time when many people didn’t even own FM radios! (Donors were gifted FM radios to tune in.)

Co-founders Stanley Tam, Art Arthur, and Peter Courlas shared a vision to bring Christian radio to the Lima area, and through their commitment of prayer, time, and resources, the station signed on the air, originally with 12 hours of daily programming.

1968  The First 24-hour Station in Lima

WTGN was Lima’s first radio station to broadcast 24 hours a day! WTGN 97.7 FM went on-air full-time on August 20, 1968.
